Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

I Samuel 12:24 "Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you."

We have truly been blessed and God is working great things in the lives of each member of our little family.

Our eye appointment in LA went very well. Timothy did great during the long ride both ways. The doctor said his right eye looks really good. The surgeries performed on it appear to be successful. The left eye is also looking good with regard to the issues corrected by the previous surgeries. However, these surgeries have also resulted in the formation of a cataract in the left eye (apparently these are pretty common after eye surgeries). This condition will need to be surgically corrected in order to save further sight development, so Timothy will be going for his 12th surgery on Tuesday, Sept. 7th. He will need to stay overnight at CHLA so the doctor can check on the eye after surgery. Hopefully, we'll be home by the night of the 8th.

Please pray that all the preoperative appointments and business goes smoothly and that he will be cleared for the surgery by his lung doctor. Once again, God has provided us with another opportunity to trust Him. We are a little apprehensive because the procedures of getting him there and admitted for the surgery are different from when he was already in the hospital. Please pray that God will go before us and that all will work out smoothly. Thank you for your prayers. They continue to be a source of strength for us from day to day.

Psalm 32:7 "You [God] are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance."

We are so thankful for the ways that God has delivered us from insurance troubles and constantly provides us with strength for the challenges we face and joy even in the midst of trials.

Actual Age: 8 months
Adjusted Age: 4 months
Weight: 8 lbs. 12 oz.

Timothy is still growing and developing every day at his own pace. Our neurology appointment went very well. The doctor said that there is no swelling in his head and that is good. She recommended that he get physical and/or occupational therapy to help with the developmental delays. The brain condition that he has may affect development but only time will tell in this area. He will not need to be seen by her again for at least 2 months.

Tomorrow (Tues.) and Wednesday are big days. We have 2 eye appointments and an appointment with the doctors who are following his lung and feeding conditions. That's 3 appointments in 2 days and one of them is in LA! The nurse, Timothy and I are going to need some major strength and grace (especially because Daddy will not be able to go with us). Please pray for us!

Praise - good results at the neurology appointment
- continued growth and development
- God is working out our insurance concerns in ways we would never have imagined!

Prayer - strength for appointments on Tues. and Wed.
- healing of his left eye and that his sight would be spared
- healing in his brain and that his development would continue to progress
- he has not been wanting to drink from the bottle or breastfeed consistently for about a week and we don't really know why. Please pray that he would not develop any oral aversions (common to babies who have had his experiences) and that he would begin to eat consistently by the bottle or breast and receive enough nutrition to eventually remove his "tummy tube"
