Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD. . . "

It's a comfort to know that our Heavenly Father has plans for us and for Timothy; and He knows what those plans are and ultimately, they are good!

Timothy is currently still in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Loma Linda. He is being treated for his renal tubular acidosis, a condition which affects his kidneys and his ph balance. That issue seems to be resolving slowly. However, now he is being treated for edema (swelling), probably due to the previous condition and stress. The swelling is affecting his lungs and making it difficult for him to breathe, so he is back on a ventilator for support and is being given a diuretic twic a day. He will not be weaned from the ventilator until the swelling has subsided, so we will probably be here for a few more days.

It is very draining, emotionally and physically. Please pray for Jon and I as we try to balance being there for Timothy, but also getting the rest and nourishment that we need to be strong in order to care for him. Jon is presently back at work each day and coming to the hospital in the evenings. I am with the baby all day. One of us stays with the baby through the night and the other goes home for a few hours of sleep. This will probably continue through the week.

Prayer - his ph would continue to correct with the correct dose of medication
- the swelling to go down
- comfort for Timothy ( he is very uncomfortable and has difficulty sleeping for more than a few minutes at a time)
- patience & strength for mommy & daddy

Timothy is currently in the PICU at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Mom and Grandpa were on their way to the eye doctor in L.A. yesterday when Timothy's oxygen level started to drop. They rushed him to the closest emergency room, Community Hospital and he was transferred to LLUMC around 11:30. He was put back on a ventilator and the doctors determined that his ph balance is off again. They are treating him with medication and checking his ph every 8 hours. He is already looking and responding better and they are beginning to wean him off the ventilator. He will remain at LLUMC at least 1 more night. We'll let you know when he is home.

Prayer
-ph balance
-continued healing of his left eye after surgery
-strength and rest for mom and dad

Timothy can really use your prayers right now.
