Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

We are truly experiencing this little gift from God. It is exciting to see him growing and developing each and every day.

Timothy is now holding his head up very well and really enjoys being held and interacting with the familiar adults in his life. He loves to listen and "dance" to music. Boy, he can really get those little arms and legs moving! He also loves to watch flashing lights on toys ( a good indicator that he has sight!).

We saw a nephrologist this week ( a specialist on the renal system - for us that means kidneys). She diagnosed Timothy as having renal insufficiency which basically means that his kidneys are not functioning the way they are supposed to. There is also some question as to whether or not he has a left kidney and how big it is and how well it is functioning. She wants to have some special tests done in the next 2 months to show the kidneys and their functioning in better detail. These should be outpatient procedures, but they will probably be uncomfortable for him. We knew his kidneys were compromised but we had sort of tucked that little piece of info away because other issues were posing greater threats. Once again, God is reminding us that we need to trust him for the functioning of these little organs because He is not only Timothy's Creator, He is also his Sustainer.

Praise - Timothy's health has been good
- He is growing in weight and length
- He will probably begin receiving occupational therapy very soon
- God is good all the time!

Prayer - Good kidney function; healing of the kidneys; wisdom for this new specialist
- this week Timothy's health insurance is up for review and will probably be denied, but we will also be applying for a special waiver program over the next couple of weeks; so please pray that this process will go smoothly and be expedited so there is no lapse in coverage or services
