Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Sorry it's been so long since the last update. Life at the Arnett house has been very busy. We had a wonderful dedication service last week! It was a time of reflection on where Timothy has come from and thanksgiving to God for how far he has brought our little boy.

We have been to see a couple of doctors - one being the eye doctor. The right eye continues to look very good. The left eye retina is partially attached, but still has a ways to go. Timothy has an appointment with an optometrist in LA in January to see about getting glasses. That will be a whole new adventure!

Just a little tidbit (which might help to explain our busyness): As of March 2005, Timothy will have 19 specialists following his various conditions! God has provided some excellent people in their fields to care for Timothy and to provide the best possible conditions for him to grow and thrive.

Praise - Timothy continues to be very healthy
- he loves to talk with his speaking valve in place; he is up to a total of about 3-4 hours a day
- God's provision of true experts in the field of medicine
- the love and support of all of our family and friends

Prayer - continued attachment of the retina in the left eye
- increased use of his right arm and hand (he tends to favor the left one)
- continued health of his lungs
- wisdom for Jon and I as we seek to make the best decisions possible regarding Timothy's care
