Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Our appointment for the berium swallow study was a challenge, but it was determined that all the physical mechanisms for swallowing seem to be functioning fine, so what we are dealing with is classic oral aversion (attitude). We will be consulting with an occuaptional therapist to get ideas for dealing with this aversion and getting him to take food by mouth.

Timothy now his glasses! (see webshots link for new pictures) They do not appear to bother him at all, in fact when he wears them he seems to like it! He is very interested in looking at everything around him and studying things very carefully. His world has definitely been enlarged!

Please continue to pray for provision of just the right weekend night nurse for us.

Please say a prayer for us Wednesday morning as we will be going in the afternoon for Timothy's swallow study. We will have to get him to swallow some milk with berium mixed into it. Since he doesn't even like anything in his mouth, this may be a challenge!

This test will show if there are any medical reasons that he doesn't like/is not able to swallow comfortably.

Thank you!!!!!
