Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Luke 24:6-7 "Jesus is not here [in the tomb], but He has risen. Remember how He spoke . . . saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."

During this blessed Easter weekend, we as Christians, remember Christ's death on the cross to pay for our sin and we celebrate that He rose from the dead and conquered death in order to give us eternal life in Heaven if we believe and accept what He did for us and put our trust in Him. We hope you will take some time to ponder Christ's sacrifice and what it means for you as you celebrate this wonderful holiday with family and friends.

We had our appointments with the physical and occupational therapists. Their evaluations and recommendations will be presented in the next two weeks to a doctor who will then approve or disapprove the therapy. (We hope it will be approved, otherwise, I may have to go to battle and fight to get Timothy the services he needs and it could take even longer than the already long 3 months we have spent in this process.)

Timothy is making great strides in his development each and every day. He falls under the broad category of cerebral palsy because of damage to some of his brain cells due to brain complications shortly after birth. This damage has caused the delays in his development and low muscle tone. His main challenge in this area is reprogramming his brain to be able to do simple things that we take for granted, like moving our arms. His therapy will play a key role in this reprogramming.

Praise - he remains very healthy, is gaining weight, and we have had a good report from his pulmonologist regarding the health of his lungs
- we have a regular nurse on Friday nights

Prayer - that the therapy would be approved by the doctor without any hesitation
- we have an appointment with the eye doctor in LA on Wednesday. please pray for safety as we travel and that the appointment would go very smoothly (the doctor needs to get a good look at the left eye and Timothy can squint really tightly making it difficult for the doctor to see what he needs to see)
- strength for mommy & daddy as we have full responsibility for Timothy on Saturday nights.
