Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to Him [God] who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen"

We give God all the glory for Timothy's improvement and current condition!

Timothy is doing great off the ventilator so far. We have asked the doctors to try him off completely for 4 days and see how his blood tests look. Based on his performance they will decide if he can come home Monday or Tuesday hopefully. We are not planning to have a ventilator at home at this time although we are open to it in the future if necessary. There may still be a few bumps along the road with regard to discussing this with the doctors. Please pray that God will guide us and that we will all act in Timothy's best interests.

His oxygen requirement is still a little high. They have been unable to wean him and no one really knows why. Of course as the mom, I have several possible theories, but the trick is discussing those with right doctor and having them listen and be willing to try some different things. Please pray for the right course of action to be taken (by myself and the doctors).

Psalm 124:8 " Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth."

Praises - Timothy's blood test numbers while off te ventilator have been very good!
- the GI doctors came yesterday and did a biopsy around his tummy tube to diagnose a suspected complication

Prayer - it looks as though he may not be having the elective surgery because his doctor will be out of town for the next 2 weeks; although we are waiting to hear if another doctor will be available to do it

- The home ventilator arrived on Tuesday and we took that prompt answer to prayer as confirmation that we should go ahead with this program, but now we are not so sure again. They attempted to put Timothy on it last night and Daddy stayed with him at the hospital and reported that they had some technical malfunctions with the machine and were not able to use it through the night as planned. We have very strong feelings about getting Timothy home now because he is back to his baseline. We are considering telling the doctors that we've decided to go home without the ventilator and if Timothy has difficulty in the near future we will revisit the idea of a home ventilator. Please pray for God's guidance, wisdom, clear communication, and open minds as we discuss with the doctors and other medical personnel today

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord is the One who goes ahead of you; He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."

Praises - Timothy was off the ventilator all day yesterday (Monday) and tolerated it very well
- It seems like he may be ready to come home soon
- We have a new doctor again this week and he seems as if he is going to listen to us

Prayer - that Timothy's blood test numbers would continue to be in the desired range so he can continue to be off the ventilator during the day

- if the Lord wants him to be on the ventilator at home at night, we would really like for the process to be expedited; if not, pray for patience and peace for us as we wait on God's timing

- if there are any other issues of Timothy's health that need to be addressed while he is in the hospital, please pray that they would be revealed

- there may be a complication with his "tummy tube" (the one he gets fed through); we are waiting for the GI doctors to come and take a look at it

- there is a possibility that he may be able to have a minor elective surgery done before he comes home to repair a scar from a previous surgery that is not completely healed (we think this would be great so we won't have to come back another time to have it done)
