Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Psalm 57:1-2 " Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge until destruction passes by. I will cry to God Most High, to God who accomplishes all things for me."

The Lord certainly has been gracious to us and has accomplished all concerning Timothy. Thank you for your prayers! Timothy is feeling much better. Last weekend was a rough one and we almost took him back to the hospital, but he had a big turn-around Sun. night and Mon. morning and he's been doing great all week! We have the antibiotics that he needs for about 2 more weeks, but I still have to work out the continued supply issue with the insurance.

We are truly experiencing Psalm 127:1 "... children are a gift of the Lord..." Our little gift is growing and thriving. He learns more each new day and we are amazed at what the Lord is leading him to accomplish developmentally. We are working with him on rolling to his tummy, sitting up unassisted, and strengthening his abdominal muscles (*this is key right now if his development is going to go forward). The long-awaited physical therapy began this week and we love his therapist. She is very aggressive in her goals for him and we are excited about what can happen. He also begins occupational therapy next week.

He is teething and beginning to put all kinds of things in his mouth (a big step for him in overcoming his "oral aversion"). He has also begun to drink juice and water throughout the day - it only totals about 1 ounce a day, but it's a huge breakthrough for him! He loves to play patty-cake and is practicing clapping his hands, shaking everything he can get his hands on and keeping us on our toes. He also loves to hear his own voice. When he wears his speaking valve (we call it his "talk-talk") he makes sounds constantly. We think he may be catching on to the word "HI"! He smiles and plays and when he wants attention he has learned to kick his legs. He is happy and healthy and we praise God for our little blessing!

Prayer - he has begun to squint open his left eye a little bit more on occasion - please pray that God would continue to heal and attach the retina in that eye and restore his sight. We visit the ophthalmologist in LA at the end of July

Have a Very Happy Fourth of July!
