Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Psalm 28:7 "The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in Him and I am helped; therefore, my heart exults and with my song I shall thank Him."

We have had a very busy month of July so far. This week we have had appointments every day! So far all of our doctor appointments post hospitalization have had good reports. Praise the Lord!

Timothy has begun physical and occupational therapy and they are both going very well. Most people understand physical therapy - it helps restore and train your brain and your body's large muscle groups, but a lot of people have asked me about why a baby needs occupational therapy. Occupational therapy refers to learning to function in an occupation. Timothy's "occupation" is functioning as a baby. So his therapy will help him to do just that. We will work on his motor skills so that he learns how to better interact with his environment and the people around him. He'll learn how to play with toys, eat, dress himself, etc. We will also be looking into getting him speech therapy to aide in his acquisition of language.

Praise - He remains very healthy
- He is already making progress in his therapy goals

Prayer - healing and restored sight to his left eye
- we have an important doctor's appointment next Tuesday. They will be evaluating his medications to see if any adjustments need to be made since coming home from the hospital. We are praying specifically that the Lasix (diuretic) dose will be decreased because it affects his kidneys adversely. We will also address his need for the antibiotic breathing treatment and getting help with the insurance approval and coverage.
