Timothy James

"Precious to God"

I was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 8th because my amniotic sac was leaking and I had begun to dilate. I was ordered to lie flat on my back until the baby came ( I was due April 2nd!). Well, on Dec. 17th my water broke at 7:15pm and Timothy James decided to come early. He was breech and already on his way out, so the doctor did an emergency C-section and at 10:20 pm he was delivered. He went straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has been there ever since. Timothy was only 25 weeks along in his development (a "normal" pregnancy lasts 40 weeks) so he still has a lot of growing to do.

Well, the pulmonologist (lung doctor) has given us a very good report. Timothy's lungs sound "beautiful" (that's a direct quote). We continue to work on weaning him off the oxygen, one of the major steps toward removal of the trach. He was actually off the oxygen completely for the 1st time for 30 minutes on Saturday. He did great! Praise the Lord!

The nutritionist has also decreased the amount of formula he receives through the tummy tube and increased our calorie goal for solid foods by mouth. He has good days and bad days when it comes to eating, but overall he is meeting his goal most days.

We have had some set-backs regarding obtaining a walker to aide his mobility, but we are still working on it.

Praises - Timothy has remained infection-free so far this year
- He continues to be a very happy little boy (most of the time:)
- He is learning and becoming more aware of himself and the world around him every day

Prayer - that we would be able to get the walker soon
- we need to see a new opthalmologist due to insurance issues
- that he will become more comfortable wearing his new glasses
- he would continue eating well and enjoying it and growing at an acceptable rate
- strengthening of his lungs so he can tolerate being weaned off the oxygen soon
- strengthening of his trunk muscles (front and back) as he works with the physical therapist
- that our requests for speech and occupational therapy through Loma Linda Outpatient Rehab would be processed in a timely manner
